With Mother's Day coming to a close, I figured it'd only be right to write a post today. Usually I try to give advice, make some bad jokes, or push people towards better actions in life. Always trying to remain "real" when I make these posts. There is a certain vulnerability I have to bring forth as a writer to try and be able to connect with my audience and today is no different. Instead of the usual stuff, here's a quick post about moms.
Tell your mom you love them. If they're still a part of your life, even if you had a falling out recently, or you don't talk often, tell your mom you love them. Mom's teach us our style, how to talk to women, they teach us our manners, how to clean up after ourselves. Our mothers are our saints. They are the angels that we went to bed wishing for. They are selfless, responsible, and always remarkably strong. Our mothers protect us in ways we don't can't even comprehend. They made sure that we could keep it together until we took off our training wheels in our early teen years. When we did our best to explore the world, they'd still be in the back waiting, supporting us silently.
They'd never ask for anything in return. After arguments or fights, when your relationships fail, when you are awake at 3 a.m. stressing about the next day, they are there. Even though they don't ask, we do our best to make sure to take them out to lunch every now and then or buy them flowers or dedicate one day a year to them, just to make sure we know they love them. Mom's always know. Not just that we know they love them, they know what food we'll eat when we are sad, they'll know to bring a sweater even if we swear it's not cold, they'll know the messes we've created and mistakes we've made, but they won't question us or tease us along the way. Unless of course we deserve it. And honestly, fuck, sometimes do we really deserve it. Thank your mom for everything they do, please, because you only get one.
Thank you, I love you mom
